What’s Fibrocystic Disease?
It’s a very common benign breast disease where there is a lumpiness in one or usually both breasts. Can cause painful tender breasts. hormone related changes. Calcification.

How does someone get fat necrosis in the breast?
Fat necrosis comes about from trauma causing haemorrhage and necrosis.
Causes a hard lump which mimics cancer.

It’s an inflammatory condition caused by infection. Commonly caused by blocked milk ducts in breastfeeding - lactation mastitis

What is a breast papilloma?
It’s a benign wart like growth in the ducts. Causes bleeding or nipple discharge. Can grow up to 2 cms

- Bleeding nipple
- Nipple discharge
- Wart-like growth on nipple
What’s a Fibroadenoma?
It’s a benign rubbery lump in the breast. Happens in women of reproductive age and can increase in size during pregnancy.

How might you be able to spot breast cancer presenting in the breast?
- Lump
- Skin dimpling
- Change in skin colour or texture
- Change in how the nipple looks (i.e. nipple inversion)
- Clear or bloody fluid that leaks out of the nipple.
What is ductal carcinoma?
- Malignant tumour.
- Abnormality of milk ducts
