traces the route the human eye travels when they read — left to right, top to bottom
Colour connotations
Red: Passion, Love, Anger.
Orange: Energy, Happiness, Vitality.
Yellow: Happiness, Hope, Deceit.
Green: New Beginnings, Abundance, Nature.
Blue: Calm, Responsible, Sadness.
Purple: Creativity, Royalty, Wealth.
Black: Mystery, Elegance, Evil.
Gray: Moody, Conservative, Formality
Splash
Main body of text / image.
Rule of thirds
A composition rule that divides the screen into thirds horizontally and vertically. Almost all of the important information included in every shot is located at one of the four intersections of the horizontal and vertical lines
Mode of address
Formality - Polite vs Impolite
Iconography
the study of a group of representative pictures or symbols
Anchorage
Attachment of meaning to something - anchoring a message to it.
Technical codes
The way a text is technically constructed - camera angles, framing, typography, lighting etc.
Close-up shot
Shows a particular part of a subject with more detail.
Extreme close-Up Shot
Shows a particular part of a subject with extreme detail
Medium shot
A relatively close shot, from the knees or waist up.
Wide Shot (WS)
Shows subject and location/environment in its entirety
Extreme Wide Shot
The view is so far from the subject that they may not be visible. Often used as an establishing shot.
