How does brain development change in terms of identity/orientation in the world towards the end of development?
A
- Exploration of identity typically settles in, and people find their place in the world with longer-term goals/aims
- Also increased interest in social roles/relationships, including romantic relationships

Describe changes to emotions and reward pathways that occur during adolescence
A
- Initially, we see decreased self-regulation and increased risk-taking activities, as well as increased fear of judgement from peers (embarrassment).
- We also see increased difficulty navigating emotionally charged situations (excitement/anger etc)
- Later in adolescence, prefrontal cortex development increase self-regulation and inhibition
