Outline the tests that are routinely ordered during the first antenatal visit (and why)

A
  • Ferritin, omega 3, FBC, Urine MCS (check for deficiencies/conditions in mother)
  • Blood group (test to see if Anti-D Prophylaxis is required)
  • Rubella, Hep B/C, syphilis, HIV (screen for infection)

What happens in the setting of low PAPP-A on CFTS? What do we do about it?

A
  • Low PAPP-A is associated with significant increase in risk of baby being small for gestational age
  • We do extra uterine doppler during morphology scan, and sometimes do additional growth surveilance
