Outline the tests that are routinely ordered during the first antenatal visit (and why)
A
- Ferritin, omega 3, FBC, Urine MCS (check for deficiencies/conditions in mother)
- Blood group (test to see if Anti-D Prophylaxis is required)
- Rubella, Hep B/C, syphilis, HIV (screen for infection)

Aisde from routine tests, what other tests may be ordered at a first antenatal consult?
A
- Chlamydia
- Thalassaemia
- Vitamin D
- Early OGTT (why?)
- Pap smear

What genetic conditions do we screen for during pregnancy
A
- Spina bifida
- Trisomies (13, 18, 21)

When do we do combined first trimester screening?
A
from 9wks to less than 14 wks

What happens in the setting of low PAPP-A on CFTS? What do we do about it?
A
- Low PAPP-A is associated with significant increase in risk of baby being small for gestational age
- We do extra uterine doppler during morphology scan, and sometimes do additional growth surveilance
