What are the 6 R’s
Reduce, reuse, recycle, refuse, rethink, repair
What does REDUCE mean?
Designers reduce the amount of materials they use
What does REUSE mean?
Designers must reuse materials to reduce waste
What does RECYCLE mean?
Designers must recycle materials or choose to use materials that have been or could be recycled.
What does REFUSE
Designers must REFUSE to use materials that are non renewable, harmul to the encironment or scarce.
RETHINK definition
Designers must RETHINK about products and how their function can be environmentally friendly.
REPAIR definition
Designers must think about how their product can be REPAIRED
Sustainability definition
It is the ability for a process to be continued INDEFINITELY without DAMAGING and/or DEGRADING the ENVIRONMENT on which it depends.
What can you REDUCE at your home and why?
I can reduce the use of unrecyclable plastic water bottles which cannot be recycled, I can instead have reusable plastic water bottles.
How can you REUSE at home
By having a reuseable plastic water bottles, I don’t need to keep on wasting ther materials by buying unrecyclable plastic water bottles.
What can you do to RECYCLE at home?
Have water bottles that I can put in the recycling bin.
How can you REFUSE at home?
Instead of using plastic bags which are unrecyclable, I can refuse them and instead use another bag that I can reuse.
How can you RETHINK at home?
I used a wooden structure which I can use as a stand which means I am always reusing it.
How can you REPAIR at home?
Repair boxes or other objects in your house which can be reused again.
