Production Processes and quality Flashcards
Continuous production
Highly automated manufacture that runs continuously
Mass production
Manufacturing at a high volume (10000+)
Batch
Where a large number of products at the same time (2-10k)
Prototype/One off
Making of a single unique production or prototype
Just in time production (JIT)
Scale of production relies on the product has been manufactured to a timed schedule. It doesn’t cost money but isn’t reliable.
Just in Time production advantages
Reduced stock and therefore reduced warehouse and storage space needed - cheaper overheads.
Less finance is tied up in stock as every product is already ordered by a customer and the supplies provide materials and components when needed.
Just in time production disadvantages
Reliance on external supplies.
Reliance on materials needed
No available off the shelf stock
