Q

Sulfonylureas and Glinides mechanism of action

A
  • These drugs block ATP-sensitive K+ channels, resulting in depolarization and calcium influx in β-cells. Increased [Ca]i stimulates insulin release.
  • Also decreases hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity.
