o used for the treatment of idiopathic constipation, opioid-induced constipation, and IBS constipation. It activates chloride channels in the intestine, leading fluid secretion
Misoprostol (Cytotec)
o PGE1 analogue
o used to protect the mucosal ling of the stomach during chronic NSAID treatment. It binds to a prostaglandin receptor on parietal cells, reducing gastric acid release. Stimulates mucous production.
o Used off-label for induction of labor, by stimulating uterine contractions.
Bimatoprost (Latisse, Lumigan)
o PGF2α analogue
o It is an ocular hypotensive agent and decreases intraocular pressure. Also increases eyelash length and prominence.
