Test 2 - German - Lipids and FA's Flashcards

1
Q

Chylomicron t-port. Name the 7 steps.

A

Bile salts form mixed micelles from fats.
Intestinal ligases breakdown triacylglycerols.
FA are converted into triacylglycerolds
TAGs are added with cholesterol and apolipoproteins into chylomicrons.
Chylomicrons move thru the lymph to tissues.
Lipoprotein lipase converts TAGs to FAs and glycerol.
FAs oxidized as fuel or reesterified for storage.

Q

What is the RLS of fatty acid beta oxidation?

A

Acrylic-CoA dehydrogenase. FADH2 is formed from this.

*Per oxidation step, 1 Acetyl-CoA, 1 NADH and 1 FADH2 are formed
