• Assaults
• Domestic disputes
• Overdose
• Situations involving recreational use of drugs and alcohol
• Psychiatric emergencies
• Shootings and stabbings
• Calls with limited or no information involving “violence”
• INTERSECTION or ROADWAY INCIDENTS
Scene Management - Apparatus Placement
- Always divert traffic to one side of the apparatus or the other. NEVER allow traffic to proceed on both sides of work area.
- DO NOT position apparatus where personnel will be operating between it and another vehicle in close proximity.
- If possible, designate safety member to observe traffic flow or hostile actions.

The use of apparatus emergency lights on scene will provide maximum visibility to oncoming traffic and may be desirable in certain situations.

• Unnecessary attention from surrounding community.
• Impaired vision to Department members providing assistance.
• Focus fixation (drivers subconsciously drawn to emergency lights occasionally striking emergency vehicles).
