ALS
Normal glucose ranges for adults is ____ mg/dl to _____ mg/dl, although it may be slightly higher for elderly patients.
70 to 120 mg/dl
A glucose level below ____ mg/dl will prompt the meter to display “LO” without a numeric reading.
20 mg/dl
For measurements _____ mg/dl, the word “KETONES?” will flash on the screen above the numeric reading.
250 mg/dl
(These patients require IV fluid therapy)
For glucose measurements greater than _____ mg/dl the screen will begin to flash “KETONES?” above the word “HI.”
500 mg/dl
Patients with glucose levels BELOW_____ mg/dl require supplemental glucose that may be provided orally if the patient remains alert and able to swallow without the risk of aspiration.
60 mg/dl
ALS upgrades are required in accordance with the LAFD Patient Disposition Policy (PDP) and for patients with what glucose levels?
• Less than 60 mg/dl
• Equal to or greater than 200, WITH suspected diabetic related symptoms
