How did the method of working change
They first glued the pieces of paper to the canvas, creating a free composition, then reality was introduced. Contours were not the same. The method was synthetic: a synthesis or combination of different elements
Colour
Areas of colour evolved in contrast to the extreme facets in analytical cubism. Colour was reintroduced.
Media/ texture
Variety of textures and media were introduced. e.g. collage, wood graining, plaster of Paris. This enriched the surface
Space
Flat space. No illusionist space was created.
Subject matter
Virtually only still lives.
