وَالنَّازِعَاتِ
By those who extract[as if swearing an oath]
غَرْقًا
violently
وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ
and those who draw out; and those who pull out; take out
نَشْطًا
gently
وَالسَّابِحَاتِ
and those who glide
سَبْحًا
swimming
فَالسَّابِقَاتِ
and those who race to precede each other
سَبْقًا
a race
فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ
and then those who arrange; and then those who ponder
أَمْرًا
a matter; an affair
يَوْمَ
day
تَرْجُفُ
quakes
الرَّاجِفَةُ
the quaking one
تَتْبَعُهَا
follows it[feminine]
الرَّادِفَةُ
the subsequent
قُلُوبٌ
hearts
يَوْمَئِذٍ
that day
وَاجِفَةٌ
palpitates; throbs; pulses
أَبْصَارُهَا
her eyes; (their) eyes; its[feminine] vision
خَاشِعَةٌ
humbled
يَقُولُونَ
they say
أَإِنَّا
will we?
لَمَرْدُودُونَ
indeed be those returned [plural]
فِي
in; to
الْحَافِرَةِ
the former state; the previous condition
أَإِذَا
So when…?!; what! when…?; Is it that when…?!
كُنَّا
we are
عِظَامًا
bones
نَخِرَةً
decayed
قَالُوا
they say; they said
تِلْكَ
that[feminine]
إِذًا
then
كَرَّةٌ
a return
خَاسِرَةٌ
losing
فَإِنَّمَا
then, only
هِيَ
it[feminine]
زَجْرَةٌ
a shout
وَاحِدَةٌ
single; a single
فَإِذَا
and aha!; and behold!
هُمْ
they
بِالسَّاهِرَةِ
with + the awakened
هَلْ
has
أَتَاكَ
come to you
حَدِيثُ
story
مُوسَىٰ
Moses; Musa
إِذْ
when
نَادَاهُ
called him
رَبُّهُ
his Lord
بِالْوَادِ
in + the valley
الْمُقَدَّسِ
the sacred
طُوًى
Tuwa [name of valley]
اذْهَبْ
(you) go
إِلَىٰ
to; towards
فِرْعَوْنَ
Pharaoh
إِنَّهُ
indeed, he
طَغَىٰ
transgressed
فَقُلْ
and say
لَكَ
for you
أَنْ
that [particle]
تَزَكَّىٰ
(you) purify yourself
وَأَهْدِيَكَ
and I will guide you
رَبِّكَ
your Lord
فَتَخْشَىٰ
so you would fear
فَأَرَاهُ
then he showed him
الْآيَةَ
the sign; the evidence
الْكُبْرَىٰ
the great [feminine]
فَكَذَّبَ
so he denied
وَعَصَىٰ
and disobeyed
ثُمَّ
then
أَدْبَرَ
he turned his back; he turned away
يَسْعَىٰ
striving
فَحَشَرَ
and (he) gathered
فَنَادَىٰ
and called out; then + called out
فَقَالَ
then + he said
أَنَا
I am
رَبُّكُمُ
your[plural] Lord
الْأَعْلَىٰ
the Most High
فَأَخَذَهُ
so seized him
اللَّهُ
Allah
نَكَالَ
an exemplary punishment
الْآخِرَةِ
the last; the hereafter
وَالْأُولَىٰ
and the first
إِنَّ
indeed
ذَٰلِكَ
that
لَعِبْرَةً
surely is a lesson
لِمَنْ
to whoever; to whom
يَخْشَىٰ
he fears
أَأَنْتُمْ
are you[plural]…?
أَشَدُّ
a more difficult
خَلْقًا
a creation
أَمِ
or
السَّمَاءُ
the heaven
بَنَاهَا
he constructed it[feminine]
رَفَعَ
he raised
سَمْكَهَا
its[feminine] ceiling
فَسَوَّاهَا
thus proportioned it
وَأَغْطَشَ
and he darkened
لَيْلَهَا
its[feminine] night
وَأَخْرَجَ
and brought out
ضُحَاهَا
its brightness
وَالْأَرْضَ
and the earth
بَعْدَ
after
دَحَاهَا
he spread it[feminine]
أَخْرَجَ
he brought forth; he extracted
مِنْهَا
from it
مَاءَهَا
its[feminine] water
وَمَرْعَاهَا
and its pasture
وَالْجِبَالَ
and the mountains
أَرْسَاهَا
he made it[feminine] firm
مَتَاعًا
a provision
لَكُمْ
for you[plural]
وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ
and for your[plural] cattle
جَاءَتِ
comes [feminine]
الطَّامَّةُ
the overwhelming calamity
الْكُبْرَىٰ
the great [feminine]
يَوْمَ
day
يَتَذَكَّرُ
he remembers
الْإِنْسَانُ
mankind
مَا
what
سَعَىٰ
he strove (for)
وَبُرِّزَتِ
and made manifest; and is made apparent [feminine]
الْجَحِيمُ
the Hellfire
يَرَىٰ
he sees
فَأَمَّا
then as for
مَنْ
who
وَآثَرَ
and preferred
الْحَيَاةَ
the life
الدُّنْيَا
the world
فَإِنَّ
then indeed,…
الْجَحِيمَ
the Hellfire
الْمَأْوَىٰ
the refuge
وَأَمَّا
but as for; and as for
خَافَ
he feared
مَقَامَ
standing
رَبِّهِ
his Lord
وَنَهَى
and restrained
النَّفْسَ
the soul
عَنِ
from
الْهَوَىٰ
the vain desires; desires
الْجَنَّةَ
the garden; paradise
يَسْأَلُونَكَ
they ask you
السَّاعَةِ
the hour
أَيَّانَ
when…?
مُرْسَاهَا
its[feminine] arrival
فِيمَ
in what
أَنْتَ
you
ذِكْرَاهَا
mention it[feminine]; its mention
مُنْتَهَاهَا
its[feminine] finality; utmost boundary
إِنَّمَا
only
مُنْذِرُ
a warner
يَخْشَاهَا
fears it[feminine]
كَأَنَّهُمْ
as though they
يَرَوْنَهَا
they see it[feminine]
لَمْ
not
يَلْبَثُوا
they had remained
إِلَّا
except
عَشِيَّةً
an evening [feminine]
أَوْ
or
