عَبَسَ
he frowned
وَتَوَلَّىٰ
and he turned away
أَنْ
because; that[particle]
جَاءَهُ
came to him
الْأَعْمَىٰ
the blind man
وَمَا
and what; and not
يُدْرِيكَ
would make you know
لَعَلَّهُ
that he might; that perhaps he
يَزَّكَّىٰ
purify himself
أَوْ
or
يَذَّكَّرُ
be reminded
فَتَنْفَعَهُ
so would benefit him
الذِّكْرَىٰ
the reminder
أَمَّا
as for
مَنِ
who
اسْتَغْنَىٰ
considers oneself/himself free from need
فَأَنْتَ
so you
لَهُ
to him
تَصَدَّىٰ
give attention
عَلَيْكَ
upon you
أَلَّا
that not
يَزَّكَّىٰ
he purifies himself
وَأَمَّا
and as for; but as for
جَاءَكَ
came to you
يَسْعَىٰ
him striving
وَهُوَ
and he (is)
يَخْشَىٰ
fears
فَأَنْتَ
but you; then you
عَنْهُ
from him
تَلَهَّىٰ
distracted
كَلَّا
nay!; absolutely not!
إِنَّهَا
indeed, it[feminine]
تَذْكِرَةٌ
a reminder
فَمَنْ
so whoever
شَاءَ
he wills
ذَكَرَهُ
remember it
فِي
in
صُحُفٍ
sheets; pages
مُكَرَّمَةٍ
honored; that which is honored
مَرْفُوعَةٍ
of a high stature; exalted
مُطَهَّرَةٍ
purified
بِأَيْدِي
in (the) hands
سَفَرَةٍ
scribes; a scribe
كِرَامٍ
noble
بَرَرَةٍ
dutiful
قُتِلَ
is destroyed
الْإِنْسَانُ
mankind; man
مَا
how[interrogative noun]
أَكْفَرَهُ
ungrateful (is) he
مِنْ
from
أَيِّ
any which
شَيْءٍ
thing
خَلَقَهُ
he created him
نُطْفَةٍ
a semen drop
فَقَدَّرَهُ
then he proportioned him
ثُمَّ
then
السَّبِيلَ
the way
يَسَّرَهُ
he made easy for him
أَمَاتَهُ
he causes him to die
فَأَقْبَرَهُ
and/then provides a grave for him
إِذَا
when
أَنْشَرَهُ
he will resurrect him
لَمَّا
not; when
يَقْضِ
he has accomplished; he has judged
أَمَرَهُ
he commanded him
فَلْيَنْظُرِ
then he looks
إِلَىٰ
to; at
طَعَامِهِ
his food
أَنَّا
that we
صَبَبْنَا
we poured
الْمَاءَ
the water
صَبًّا
abundance
شَقَقْنَا
we cleaved; we parted
الْأَرْضَ
the earth
شَقًّا
a splitting
فَأَنْبَتْنَا
then we caused to grow
فِيهَا
therein; in it[feminine]
حَبًّا
grain
وَعِنَبًا
and grape
وَقَضْبًا
and green fodder; and fresh green vegetation for livestock
وَزَيْتُونًا
and olive
وَنَخْلًا
and date-palms
وَحَدَائِقَ
and gardens
غُلْبًا
thick foliage; greenery
وَفَاكِهَةً
and fruits
وَأَبًّا
and grass
مَتَاعًا
a provision
لَكُمْ
for you[plural]
وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ
and for your[plural] cattle
فَإِذَا
but when
جَاءَتِ
comes
الصَّاخَّةُ
the deafening blast
يَوْمَ
day
يَفِرُّ
he flees
الْمَرْءُ
the man
أَخِيهِ
his brother
وَأُمِّهِ
and his mother
وَأَبِيهِ
and his father
وَصَاحِبَتِهِ
and his wife
وَبَنِيهِ
and his children
لِكُلِّ
for every
إمْرِئٍ
a man; a person
مِنْهُمْ
among them; from them
يَوْمَئِذٍ
that day
شَأْنٌ
a matter; an affair
يُغْنِيهِ
sufficient for him; benefits him
وُجُوهٌ
faces
مُسْفِرَةٌ
bright
ضَاحِكَةٌ
laughing
مُسْتَبْشِرَةٌ
rejoicing at good news
عَلَيْهَا
upon it [feminine]
غَبَرَةٌ
a dust
تَرْهَقُهَا
will cover it [feminine]; cover it [feminine]
قَتَرَةٌ
a darkness
أُولَٰئِكَ
those
هُمُ
they
الْكَفَرَةُ
the disbelievers
الْفَجَرَةُ
the wicked ones
