Surah Al-Layl Flashcards
وَاللَّيْلِ
[swearing an oath] By the night
إِذَا
when
يَغْشَىٰ
it covers
وَالنَّهَارِ
and the day
تَجَلَّىٰ
it shines in brightness; it displays (its brightness)
خَلَقَ
created
الذَّكَرَ
the male
وَالْأُنْثَىٰ
and the female
إِنَّ
indeed
سَعْيَكُمْ
your[plural] efforts
فَأَمَّا
then as for
مَنْ
(him) who
أَعْطَىٰ
gives
وَاتَّقَىٰ
and (he) fears; and possesses piety
وَصَدَّقَ
and believes; and confirms
بِالْحُسْنَىٰ
in the best
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ
then We will ease him
لِلْيُسْرَىٰ
towards ease
بَخِلَ
withholds; is stingy
وَاسْتَغْنَىٰ
and considers himself free of need
وَكَذَّبَ
and denies
بِالْحُسْنَىٰ
in the best
لِلْعُسْرَىٰ
towards (the) difficulty
يُغْنِي
will avail; will benefit
عَنْهُ
With him; about him
مَالُهُ
his wealth
تَرَدَّىٰ
It falls
عَلَيْنَا
upon us
لَلْهُدَىٰ
Surely (is) the guidance
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
لَنَا
for Us
لَلْآخِرَةَ
[emphatic particle] surely (is) the hereafter
وَالْأُولَىٰ
and the first (life)
فَأَنْذَرْتُكُمْ
so I warn you[plural]
نَارًا
(of) a fire
تَلَظَّىٰ
blazing (what it touches)
لَا
not
يَصْلَاهَا
will burn (in) it[feminine]
إِلَّا
except
الْأَشْقَى
the most wretched
الَّذِي
the one who
كَذَّبَ
denied
وَتَوَلَّىٰ
and turned away
وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا
but will be removed from it
الْأَتْقَى
the righteous; the most righteous
يُؤْتِي
gives
يَتَزَكَّىٰ
(to) purify himself
لِأَحَدٍ
for anyone
عِنْدَهُ
with him
نِعْمَةٍ
favor
تُجْزَىٰ
to be recompensed
ابْتِغَاءَ
seeking
وَجْهِ
(the) face; countenance
رَبِّهِ
(of) his Lord
الْأَعْلَىٰ
the Most High
وَلَسَوْفَ
and + [emphatic particle] surely, soon
يَرْضَىٰ
he will be pleased
اللـيـل
the night
