Q

These are the two mneumonics to help remember the RNA viruses:

  1. “i went to a RETRO TOGA party and drank FLAVORED CORONA and ate HIPPY CALIFORNIA PICKLES”
    * *Those are the ____ sense RNA viruses
  2. “Always Bring Polymerase Or Fail Replication”
    * *Those are the _____ sense RNA viruses
  3. There are two viruses not included in those mneumonics (you be DR!!)
A
  1. Retroviruses, Togaviruses, flaviviruses, coronaviruses, hepevirus, caliciviruses, picornaviruses
    * *These are the positive sense RNA viruses
  2. Arenaviruses, Bunyaviruses, Paramyxoviruses, Orthomyxoviruses, Filoviruses, Rhabdoviruses
    * *These are the negative sense RNA viruses
  3. The two RNA viruses not included in those are the Reovirus and Delta virus…more on that later
