Standard Deviation Flashcards
What numbers define the normal distribution for standard deviation?
2% | 14% | 34% | 34% | 14% | 2%
What is the definition for Standard Deviation ?
The dispersion in a set of data. The extent to which the typical number deviates from the mean. AKA how spread out are the numbers ? If the numbers are spread out = large standard deviation
List A consists of 10 integers, each between 0 and 100
List B consists of 10 integers, each between 100 and 200
QA: Standard deviation of list A
QB: Standard deviation of list B
Answer = D Cannot be determined.
What is the curve of normal distribution?
a bell curve
If the numbers in two sets are evenly spaced, then the median is the mean . Any values in a list that deviate further from the mean will have a larger standard deviation
Whenever you see the word mean what should you do?
Do an average pie
What is range?
Range is the difference between the greatest and least numbers in a data set
Standard deviation describes what?
The spread of data from the mean
What does it mean to say someone is in the 75th percentile?
75 percent of the people that are in that group are at that height or below it
