Geometry Flashcards
What is the formula for area of a triangle?
Area = 1/2 Base x Height
A = 1/2 B*H
What do the interior angles of a triangle add up to?
180 degrees
What is an isosceles triangle?
A triangle with two sides of equal length and the two angles are the same as well
so = two equal sides and two equal angles
What is a quadrilateral?
Any figure with four sides
What is the formula for the area of a parallelogram?
A = b * h
What is the formula for the area of a rectangle?
A = l * w
Area = length * width
What is the formula for the perimeter of a rectangle?
P = 2w + 2l
Perimeter = 2width + 2length
What is the formula for the perimeter of a square?
Perimeter = 4side
P = 4s
What do you know if a triangle is a right triangle with two equal sides?
You know that the angles are 45 45 90
If you have a right triangle in which the hypotenuse is twice the length of one leg what do you know?
You know that the angles are 30 - 60 - 90
AND the leg that is half the length of the hypotenuse is opposite the 30 degree angle
What is the Pythagorean theorem? And what is it used for?
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
and it is used to calculate the missing side length of a triangle
For right triangles!!
Which value in the Pythagorean theorem is always the greatest? And also the hypotenuse?
c!
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
c^2 is the greatest value and the hypotenuse
In triangles there is always a relationship between what two things?
An angle and the side that is across from that angle
Biggest angle across from biggest side
Smallest angle across from smallest side
Medium angle across from medium side
if an angle is equal to another angle then the sides across from them will be equal
Big rule for right triangles?
Use Pythagorean theorem!!
What is the hypotenuse?
The side of a triangle across from the 90 degree angle
