Coordinate Geometry Flashcards
Typically when they have you draw two points on a x y graph what do those points usually represent to help you solve the problem?
They hypotenuse of a right triangle
So usually you just have to add the legs
And then you can use the Pythagorean Theorem
What is a remainder?
remainder is the amount that is left over, once I have reached the largest multiple of the number that will fit into the number you are dividing by
The whole number amount, left over, when you have done long division
What is the remainder when 22 is divided by 8?
22/8 = 2.75
doing long division, 8 goes into 22, two times. 22 - 16 = 6 so the answer is 2 remainder 6 and therefore the remainder and the answer to the question being asked is 6
What can help visualizing remainders?
a number line
What is a composite number?
A composite number is a number that is not prime
What is the distance formula?
D = ?
Distance = Rate * Time
If you want the straight-line distance between two things, what should you do?
You should make one big triangle
instead of making two and adding hypotenuse
What is the formula for the area of a square
Area of a square = ?
Area of a square = side squared
is the term “at least” inclusive?
yes, when you see “at least” it is inclusive
