What was collectivisation?
An agricultural policy pursued by Stalin
-peasant farms were confiscated and consolidated into larger state-run farms
How did the peasants react to collectivisation?
They refused to give up their farms
How did Stalin get the peasants to cooperate?
Began to use force using the secret police and the Red Army to confiscate land
How did Kulaks retaliate to the policy?
They burned their crops and slaughtered livestock
The soviet propaganda labelled kulaks as:
“Enemies of the workers”
