Spleen Syndromes - Pathology Flashcards
Sp qi Xu (deficient condition)
Tiredness, lassitude
Bloating
Undigested food in stools
Loose stools
desire to lie down
Pale complexion
weak limbs
inappropriate sympathy
overthinking and worry
Symps due to breakdown of transformation and transportation function
Failing to transport Gu Qi to the 4 limbs causing them to be weak.
Tiredness lassitude desire to lie down when qi of the spleen is weak.
Sp Yang Xu
Tired
Loose stools
undigested food in stools
poor/abnormal appitite
feeling cold
Oedema
desire to lie down curled up
cold limbs
Obesity
Spiritual fatigue
Sp Qi Xu plus Yang xu. Breakdown of transformation and transportation function
Failing to transport Gu Tito the 4 limbs causing them to be weak.
Tiredness lassitude desire to lie down when qi of the spleen is weak.
Spleen yang is failing to warm the limbs, and oedema is due to breakdown in T&T function of fluids - fluids accurate under the skin. Obesity - breakdown of T&T function and lead to build up of damp.
Spleen Qi Sinking (deficient condition)
Tired
Loose stools, undigested food
Poor abnormal appetite
Bearing down sensation in abdo
prolapse
frequent/urgent urination
menorrhagia
Same as sp qi xu plus Sp qi failing to raise qi.
Symps due to breakdown of transformation and transportation function
Failing to transport Gu Tito the 4 limbs causing them to be weak.
Tiredness lassitude desire to lie down when qi of the spleen is weak.
Prolapse due to inability for spleen qi to hold up
Urgency and menorrhagia is usually only with Kid Qi xu too
Sp not controlling Blood (deficient condition)
Tiredness
Loose stools/undigested food
Poor/abnormal appitite
Menorrhagia or metrorrhagia
Pupura
Petechiae
blood in urine/stools
bruises easily
sallow pale complexion
weak limbs
abdo distention after eating
inappropriate sympathy overthinking
Deficient Spleen cannot hold blood in the vessels
Sp Qi Xu with damp (mixed condition)
Tried
loose stools (undigested food)
Poor/abnormal appitite
abdo distention after eating
Heavy Limbs
Lassitude
Desire to lie down
pale complexion
Weak limbs
inappropriate sympathy, overthinking.
Nausea
STUFFY CHEST AND EPIGASTRIUM
MUZZY HEAD
Same as Sp Qi Xu: Symps due to breakdown of transformation and transportation function
Failing to transport Gu Tito the 4 limbs causing them to be weak.
Tiredness lassitude desire to lie down when qi of the spleen is weak.
Dampness arises from lack of TnT function with body fluids and may block descending function of St Qi causing nausea or reach the head via the St channel causing muzzy head.
Cold Damp Invading the Spleen (excess condition)
Stuffiness in chest abdo or epigastrium
Feeling heavy in head and or body
poor appitite
Loose stools
Feeling cold in epigastrium - better with warmth
nausea
sweet taste or loss of taste
no thirst no desire to drink
white vaginal discharge
lassitude
Can be acute or chronic
Stuffy feeling due to damp obstructing the movement of Qi
Heaviness due to damp obstructing the muscles
damp prevents clear yang from rising causing heavy head
Damp prevents st qi from descending causing nausea
Spleen opens in mouth so damp alters taste
vaginal discharge due to dampness being heavy with a tendency to sink
Damp Heat invading the spleen (full condition )
(usually food poisoning)
Poor appetite
Feeling of heaviness
Stuffiness in epigastrium and/or lower abdo
thirst no desire to drink
nausea, vomiting
Fouls smelling loose stools
burning sensation in anus
low grade fever
scant dark urine
dull headache with heavy head
Skin eruptions
sweating that does not relieve fever
Similar to cold damp invading but with heat.
low grade fever due to steaming of damp heat
Offensive odour in stools, bitter taste, burning anus, scanty dark urine - indicative of heat
