Dilated splenic hilum, secondary to portal hypertension. The liver and spleen are both enlarged

the blood is backed up into the spleen because the blood can not go back to
the liver
Color Doppler shows dilated splenic vessels that may be seen with portal hypertension
Acute Myelogenous Leukemia
a pt. w/ acute myelogenous leukemia shows a large
mass within the splenic parenchyma & enlarged
lymph nodes in the hilum
Lymphoblastic Lymphoma (Cont.)
on US an enlarged spleen is seen with an inhomogeneous texture in this
patient with lymphoma
multiple hypoechoic areas
Granulocytopoietic Abnormalities
pt with granulomatous infection may have bright echogenic lesions on sonography
very hypoechoic the bright spots are infarcts,
where the bld vessels are involved
