Sound Flashcards
How is sound heard
When force is applied to objects, they vibrate causing air to move fowards and backwards into our ears
What is amplitude
The distance from zero the peak of the graph and the distance from zero to the trough or bottom of the graph
What is wavelength
The distance from the peaks of the waveform
What is pitch
How high or low appears on the musicale scale
What is frequency
The number of vibrations each second
How does frequency and pitch correlate
Higher frequency equates to higher pitch and lower frequency equates to lower pitch.
How does amplitude and sound correlates
As the sound gets louder the amplitude increases and as the sound gets queiter the amplitude decreases
The effect produces when two waves meet each other is known as
Interference
When do waves reinforce
When the waves peaks of both waveforms arrive at the same time
When do waves cancel
When the wave peak of a waveform meets with the trough of another waveform at equal amplitude
