Light Flashcards
What is light
Light is a form of energy that allows us to see things around us
What are incandescent bodies
Incandescent bodies are bodies that produce heat when they make light
What are some properties of light
- Light can be reflected
- Light can be refractured
- Light has a speed of 300000000 m/s
- Light is made up of seven colors
- Light travels in a straight line
What is ray
A ray is the path of light
What is a beam
A beam is a collection of light rays
What are luminous bodies
Luminous bodies are objects that create their own light
What are fluorescent bodies
Fluorescent bodies produce light without changing temperature
What are non - luminous bodies
Non - Luminous bodies are objects that do not create their own light. Instead they reflect light from other sources
What are opaque objects
Opaque objects are objects that don’t allow light through them.
What is a light ray arriving at a surface?
Incident Ray
What are the two types of reflection
Regular & Irregular/Diffused
What is the difference between regular and irregular or diffused reflection
Regular reflection is when a light ray strikes on a smooth surface while Irregular reflection occurs on rough surfaces. The rays that reflect in regular reflection are parallel while the rays in irregular reflection are not parallel
What separates the two mediums from each other
The refractive Index
What is refraction?
Refraction refers to the change of direction of the light rays as it enters from one medium into another because of the change in speed
