A
When a solid is heated, the particles expand. This is because when the heat is transferred to the solids, the heat causes the particles to take up more space. When more heat is added, they break free of the attractive forces and become liquids by melting

A
When liquids are heated, they evaporate and boil. This is because when heat is transferred to the particles they begin to move more. Some of them are able to break of the weak attractive forces to become gases
