Driver-Operator(DO-Utility) required to operate?
Medics, utility vehicles, brush trucks
CMCB Driver-Operator required for?
Type 1 or 3 engines and tactical tender.
CMCB Driver-Operator Aerial required for?
Towers, ladder truck, and heavy rescue
When driving emergent, all actions of the driver shall be based on?
A risk benefit analysis. Safe arrival is first priority.
When should the driver bring the vehicle to a complete stop?
Controlled intersection with a stop sign, yellow or red signal. Uncontrolled railroad crossing, stopped school bus with flashing warning lights. If directed by law enforcement.
Avoid backing if possible, if it is not then?
Use a backer, take off hearing protection and roll down window. If backer disappears stop the vehicle.
What do you do if no backer is available?
Do a complete walk around to ensure there are no obstructions.
When is the only permitted time to ride on the truck while it is in motion?
When loading hose.
What are the guidelines for riding on the truck while it is moving?
One member is assigned as the safety observer. Truck is only driven forward at less than 5 mph. Members may only sit or kneel in the hose bed area, no standing allowed.
Not allowed to use their personal vehicle but if a member does?
They must obey all applicable traffic laws.
