As soon as practical in an incident. Usually the third due engine company. Minimum of 3 individuals. Reassign to Towers if tower is not needed for tactical operations.

What are some RIT functions?

Answer 2

Assembly of tools, independent size up and 360, establish a secondary means of egress, continuous size up and situational awareness on 3 corners of the structure. (can help with other activities if they improve safety and can easily be abandoned)

Question 3

What happens if RIT needs to be activated or MAYDAY is called?

Answer 3

A chief or SAM becomes RIT group supervisor. Try for an inside-out approach. Call for an additional alarm. Consider moving incident tactical communications to another channel.

If the emergency or MAYDAY is not rapidly and successfully brought to a conclusion then what happens?

Answer 4

Entry and search for FF, assessment, stabilization, and packaging of FF, removal from hazard zone.
