Software Trouble Shooting: Registry file corrupt Solutions Flashcards
CompTIA A+ 220-1102 Exam Criteria
Why is it important to properly shut down your computer?
The registry is in jeopardy of being affected the most. When you shut your computer down improperly, you are putting the registry, as well as your software, in danger of becoming corrupt. While newer operating systems are designed to handle this better, it is still not recommended and should only be done when necessary, such as when a computer freezes. When the computer freezes, the registry files will stop operating and any open documents or other software files will be lost.
How can you remediate corrupted files?
Improper shutdowns can corrupt important Windows system files. If you suspect that system files have been damaged, run the sfc utilities to check the file structure. You may also want to run the chkdsk command to check for disk errors. For Apple computers, you may need to use the disk recovery utility to recover your system. For Linux computers, you can use the fsck utility to perform a file system check.
