Software and Trouble Shooting: troubleshoot common mobile OS and application issues Flashcards
CompTIA A+ 220-1102 Exam Criteria
What are the common issues using NFC?
Near-Field Communication (NFC) connectivity issues: As NFC has become a popular alternative to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, routine issues can emerge. NFC often requires devices to be very close to each other and can become disrupted or slowed down if the devices are too far away from each other. Additionally, NFC transmissions are not secure and are prone to malicious actors using them to steal infromation.
What are the common issues with air-drop?
Airdrop connectivity issues: Airdrop is a feature found within Apple devices that enables them to wirelessly transmit photos, videos, and other files to other devices. If devices are not able to transmit files via Airdrop, you should first ensure that the device is running the most recent Apple software and has its visibility settings configured appropriately. If connectivity issues persist, you should disable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, as these can cause disruptions in communication, or restart the device.
What common issues can you point out when screen is not auto rotating?
The auto-rotate feature changes the orientation of the display from portrait to landscape to match the viewing angle of the phone. If a mobile device is not rotating its screen properly, you should first restart the device and check the auto-rotate settings. If this does not fix the issues, you would then recalibrate the phone’s sensors. If the issue still persists, it is indicative that the phone’s sensors may no longer be functioning properly and need to be updated/repaired.
What do you need to consider when mobile OS is not Updating?
An outdated operating system can cause security risks as well as slow down productivity or create issues with application compatibility. Some reasons that may prevent a phone from downloading new OS updates are lack of space within the device to store the update, or the phone’s device specifications not meeting the minimum requirements for the update. You should also ensure that your device is charged and has a strong Internet connection.
What are the common issues when applications failing to update?
The most common issues that would prevent an application from updating are the phone lacks memory space to store the update on the device, the device’s Internet connection is not stable, the phone’s OS is not compatible with the application update, or the application software has been corrupted. If the application has become corrupted, removing it from the device and reinstalling it may enable the device to download the updated
What are the common issues when Applications failing to close?
Applications can occasionally freeze and become non-responsive, preventing a user from being able to close them. If this occurs, users should go into the mobile device’s settings, find the problematic application, and select the “Force Stop” option. If this problem persists, it may be the result of a corrupted or incompatible application. Deleting and reinstalling the application will fix the corrupted application.
What are the common issues when Application is crashing?
If an application is routinely crashing, its software may be corrupted. First, the application should be “Force Stopped” through the mobile device’s settings. If the problem persists, you should restart the device and ensure the device has the latest updates. If the problem persists, you should attempt to remove and reinstall the application.
What are the common trouble shooting methods when dealing with high or low light display?
A display with the light brightened can drain a mobile device battery quickly. In addition, settings on your device can cause the display to dim in certain situations, such as low battery power. Always check the obvious, including dimmer settings, before assuming that something is wrong with the devices. Users can easily troubleshoot this problem by themselves by changing the settings. Make sure users are educated to evaluate their needs and preferences when setting the display dimming settings up.
How can you alleviate Intermittent wireless problems?
Intermittent wireless problems can occur mostly by a lack of a good signal or interference with the wireless device that broadcasts the signal. Increasing the signal strength signal or moving closer to the wireless access point (WAP) are usually the first two troubleshooting steps. You may also alleviate this problem by reducing the number of devices connecting to one WAP. Interference can be caused by wireless devices, including wireless telephones, and other physical objects, such as water, walls, and floors.
A common cause for lack of wireless connectivity is for a device to be in airplane mode. First, make sure that airplane mode is disabled. If that does not fix the problem, complete a hard reboot.
What can you do to solve unresponsive touch screen?
If a touchscreen becomes nonresponsive, first remove the case or screen protector. Then clean the screen. If that does not fix the problem, unplug the device and restart it. If that still does not fix the problem, you may want to try to calibrate the touchscreen.
When a device does not respond properly to touchscreen input, you should first remove any cases and clean the screen, or reboot the device. If that does not fix the inaccurate touchscreen response, you need to recalibrate the touchscreen.
