DEFINE SOCIAL COGNITION:
how we interpret, analyse and remember and use information judgements on people in dif social situations.
PERSON PERCEPTION:
the mental process we use to make judgements of others (whether theyre friends, strangers, etc)
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
most important characteristic once making a first impression
THE HALO EFFECT:
one quality of a person which influences our beliefs and expectations of their other qualities

assumptions we make of people who belong in certain groups
WHAT IS PERSON PERCEPTION BASED ON?
- body language

EXAMPLE OF PERSEON PERCEPTION:
WHEN YOU MEET A NEW CO-WORKER THAT IS HAPPY, YOU ASSUME THEY ARE FRIENDLY AND GENEROUS.
BODY LANGUAGE
- a physical behaviour that allows us to make quick judgements of them.
EYE CONTACT
direct eye to eye contact of another person
TYPES OF EYE CONTACTS:
- too much
- not enough
- maintained
TOO MUCH: ANGER, OR THREAT
NOT ENOUGH: BOREDOM, DIS INTEREST
MAINTAINED: HONEST AND LIKEABLE
FACIAL EXPRESSIONS:
facial gestures that convey emotions and attitudes.
PERSONAL SPACE:
a personal bubble which indicates as our personal territory.
INTERPERSONAL SPACE:
how close and far away one should be when communicating with others
