What are the 3 reasons people take performance enhancing drugs ? (PEDs)
To improve their performance.
Some people are encouraged to do so by their coaches or fellow athletes.
The reward of winning (Gold medal in some sports is said to be worth a million dollars in endorsements).

Drugs that mimic the male sex hormone testoterone and promoted bone and muscle growth.
It allows the athlete to train harder and recover quicker.
Side effect of anabolic steroids
Strokes, sometimes even death
Beta blockers and there side effects
Drugs that are used to control the heart rate and have a calming and relaxing effect.

Narcotic and analgesics
drugs that effect mood or behaviour, including drowsiness and relieving pain.

Loss of balance, loss of concentration

Drugs that elevate the rate of urine production.
Helps performers who need to loose weight
Peptide hormones
Increase the rate of maturation of red blood cells. Which leads to increased muscles growth, assist in recovery from injury and heavy training sessions.
Growth hormones
Is used to increase their muscles development (very similar to steroids but not as agressive).
Stimulants
Drugs that have an effect on our central nervous system, such as/ or physical alertness. E.g. amphetamines, ephedrine and cocain , as well as nicotine and caffeine.

Is a banned process not a banned drug. Involves boosting the number of red blood cells in the bloodstream in order to improve your performance.
