Soc 9 Flashcards
Long term affects of aerobic exercise
Working at moderate intensity level with oxygen
Anaerobic exercise? High intensity no oxygen
Will increase the ability to move in quick bursts like sprinting for a ball in football
Effects on the musculo-skeletal system
Increases bone density and the strength of ligaments and tendons
Effects on cardio respiratort system (heart)
Decreasing resting heart rate Faster recovery rate Increased resting stroke volume Maximum cardiac output Size and strength of the heart
Effects on the cardio respiratory system
Improved fitness increases the number of capillaries in your muscles
Increased number of red blood cells
Drop in resting blood pressure
Effects on the respiratory system
Increased lung capacity/ volume and vital capcity
Increased number of alveoli
Increased strength of the diaphragm and external intercostal muscles
Adaptation
Your bodys response to training and how your body changes to cope with new activity
Alveoli
Tiny sacs within our lungs that allow oxygen and carbon dioxide to move between the lungs and bloodstream
Diaphragm
The primary muscle used in the process of inspiration or inhalation
Cardiac output
The amount pf blood ejected from your heart in one minute (CO) = (SV)x(HR)
Resting stroke volume
The amount of blood pumped per beat
Recovery rate
The speed at which your heart returns to RHR after you exercise
