What are 3 stages of a warm up
Pulse raisor, stretching phase(dynamic-static), sport specific
Why is the pulse raising phase important
You want to gradually increase the heartrate and body temperature, this is done through gentle aerobic activity
Why is the stretching phase important
Helps improve range of movement mobilises joints helps maintain body temperature
How long should a warmup last
10-20 minutesand involes graudually increasing intensity
What activity comes after the warmup
The main session
Why is a cooldown important
An effective cooldown assists recovery,reduces heart rate aswell as helping remove lactive acid and other waste products
What does a cooldown consist of
2 phases, light cardio exersize and light stretching
Why are the 2 phases of a cooldown important
Decreases muscle tension, return muscle to pre-exerisze state and helps slowly return heart and breathing rate to resting.
