Specificity
Matching training to the requirements of an activity
Progressive overload
Used to describe when a athlete trains more than they usually do, this is the only way athletes can improve their fitness.
Individual needs
When planning PEP the needs of the athlete must come first, using another persons programme would nit work as they will have different starting points and needs.
Frequency
How often you train. Help you to manage progressive overload. This also overlaps with rest and recovery. Recovery during the days you don’t train.
Intensity
How hard someone trains
Type
Method of training to achieve particular goals.
Time
How long each training session must last in order to benefit and to achieve improvement.
