Carbohydrates
This is the bodies main source of energy. Make up 50% of your diet.
Fats
Fats are important because they provide energy and together with glycogen help muscles to work. The daily intake of fats should be 30% of your diet.
Proteins
Proteins are important to help build muscles and to repair damaged tissue
Vitamins
A balanced supply of vitamins is essential for the body to function properly. There are many benefits to vitamins. A few of these are good vision, good skin, healing and healthy bones and teeth.
Minerals
Two key minerals you need are calcium and iron. Calcium helps strengthen bones iron is linked to haemoglobin.
Water
When you exercise you sweat and lose electrolytes so you need water to build this back up.
Fibre
Fibre adds bulk to food and aids the digestive system
Carb loading
This is when athletes eat loads of protein and build it up in there systems before a race. This maximises glucogen stores in your muscles giving you lots of energy.

Overweight and gains fat easily. Finds it hard to lose weight.
