- contitutionally small

what is IUGR?
A
pathology causing restricted growth of the foetus due to reduced amount of oxygen & nutrients being delivered to it

other signs of IUGR, apart from being small for gestational age?
A
- reduced liquor volume
- abnormal doppler studies
- reduced foetal movements
- abnormal CTGs

aetiology of IUGR?
A
- Idiopathic
- PET
- anaemia
- maternal smoking & alcohol
- malnutrition
- infection

what do growth restricted babies have a tendency to develop later in life
A
- HT
- DMT2

risk factors for SGA baby?
A
- older mother (>35)
- multiple pregnancy
- previous SGA baby
- obesity
- smoking
- diabetes
- HT
- PET
- anti-phospholipid syndrome
- low levels of PAPP-A

- investigate to find underlying cause
- regular monitoring antenatally
