A
Hb normally falls during pregnancy due to increased plasma volume diluting the Hb

when are women screened for anaemia?
A
FBC at booking (8-12weeks) & at 28 weeks

effects on foetus?
A
- low birth weight
- preterm delivery

Mx?
A
treat the cause
- iron deficiency- iron supplements
- B12 - B12 injections if pernicious anaemia/ oral tablets (cyanocobalamin) if dietary
- folate - additional folic acid supplements
