classification of uterine rupture?
- incomplete
- peritoneal lining around uterus remains intact
- complete
- peritoneal lining ruptures & contents of uterus released into peritoneal cavity = significant haemorrhage
Mx of uterine rupture?
emergency laparotomy
RF of uterine rupture?
- IoL
- VBAC
- previous uterine surgery
- raised BMI
what is shoulder dystocia?
shoulder of baby becomes stuck under symphysis pubis after delivery of head
RF of SD?
macrosomia
complications of SD?
- erb’s palsy
- perineal tears
- PPH

Legs (mcrobert’s maneouvre)
P Suprapubic pressure
Enter maneouvres
Remove (deliver) posterior arm
Roll onto all fours and repeat cycle / push head back in and do c section
what is cord prolapse?
umbilical cord descends down below presenting part of foetus
RF for cord prolapse?
abnormal lie > 37 weeks
complication of cord prolapse?
baby’s head compresses it –> hypoxia to baby
diagnosis of cord prolapse?
- visible outside of vagina
- palpable of vaginal examination
- signs of foetal distress on CTG
Mx of cord prolapse?
emergency C-Section
- tocolytics whilst waiting
pushing cord back in NOT recommended
what is uterine inversion?
fundus of uterus falls down through cervix
what is uterine inversion a cause of?
PPH
