Raccoon eyes / battle sign ( ecchymosis behind the ears ) / CSF rihnorrhea & otorrhea / cranial nerve palsy / hemotypanum
Q. Ptn presented with CSF rhinorrhea with raccoon eye after being in an accident. What part of the skull is fractured?
Anterior cranial fossa
Name the causes of pneumocephalus ( air in the skull ) ?
Fracture or congenital defect of base of skull / transphenoidal surgery/ tumors involving base of the skull
Q. Ptn had an accident and had bilateral ecchymosis around the eyes and battle sign ( blue-grey discoloration behind the ears ) on one side with unilateral hearing loss and anosima . Where is the fracture location ?
Basilar skull fracture (part of temporal bone fractures ), can be detected by CSF coming out of the nares.
