It’s because of thiamine deficiency in chronic alcoholics
A. What’s the S&S for Wernick encephalopathy ?
Oculomotor disturbance, cerebellar ataxia, mental confusion
A. How to treat Wernick encephalopathy?
Give 100mg f thiamine IV or IM along with magnesium sulfate and then glucose
A. Why is Wernick encephalopathy common in chronic alcoholics?
Because of thiamine deficiency
