Q. A Ptn went out on weekend and got drunk then fell asleep. then presented to the casualty with weakness in his hand = wrist drop ( weakness for wrist & fingers extension ) where is the lesion?
This is called Saturday Night palsy. Radial nerve lesion
Q. An alcoholic Ptn presented with oculomotor disturbance + cerebral ataxia + mental confusion. What’s your diagnosis and what’s the treatment?
Wernick encephalopathy because of thiamine deficiency. 💊 is thiamine 100mg / IV or IM along with magnesium sulfate then give glucose
Q. Alcoholic ptn presented with confusion + ataxia + partial ophthalmoplasia + horizontal nystagmus. what’s your diagnosis?
Wernick encephalopathy because of thiamine deficiency ( excess alcohol interfere with thiamine in the gut and limit it’s absorption)
