Fixed

Freely movable
Fixed joint meaning is
No movement after infancy
Examples. Cranium
Pelvis
Semi moveable bones mean
Slight movement
Pad of cartilage between articulating bones
Examples. Between Vertebrae
Between Pubic bone
Freely moveable joints also know as
Synovial Joints
-Largest amount of movement
-Bones don’t come together

What is Synovial Fluid essential for
- help to absorb shock
- lubrication
- provides Nourishment to cartilage
-cleaning - waste removal
There are 5 major types of Synovial Joints
Ball & Socket
Hinge
Glinding
Pivot
Saddle
Ball and socket examples
Hips and shoulders
Most moveable
Hinge joints
Elbows and knees
Allows for extension And flexion
Open and close
Glinding joints
Wrists and ankles ( blocky ) don’t open and close the slide past each other not smooth …..
Pivot Joints is made up of 2 joints
Forearm also Radio - Ulna
Head and Neck. Also Atlas / Axis
Allows bones to twist or rotate against our stationery bone
