Engerg System Flashcards
All cells in body need engery to work
Cells cannot get there engery directly from food comes from a molecule called ATP
ATP is Adenoinse Triphosphate
Unstable cannot be stored In large quantities
Only enough ATP stored in muscles for 2-3 seconds
We always need to replenish the ATP
Three ways
ATP-CP. high intensity anaerobic
Lactate system high intensity anaerobic
Aerobic system low intensity
ATP-CP also know as
Phosphagen system
This will give and extra 10 seconds or so
Lactate system
Also know as anaerobic respiration
Uses carbs as form of energy to rebuild ATP
Waste - lactic acidosis builds up Forces ya to stop
How long to recover - 20mins to 2 hours
Sports and events - 400-800 metre
Hypertrophy ( resistance )
Where do we store fuel site - muscle and liver
Aerobic sys there is two
Aerobic glycolysis
Aerobic lipolysis
Aerobic glycolysis
- Using carbs as fuel can last 2 hours
- waste co2 , H20 and heat
Sports and events - 1500 m plus , 5km 10km half marathon
Aerobic liposos
Fuel is fats
Durations days
Waste is C02, H20 and heat
Recovery is when we replace food
Sports / events - marathon plus
Fuel site muscle and mainly fats stored
What two fuels can aerobic system use
Carbs and fats
What two fuels can anaerobic system use
Carbs lactate
