Q

What can mixtures be separated by

A

Physical processes, these processes do not involve chemical reactions so no new substances are made

Q

What is filtratikn

A

Filtration is used to separate soluble solids from insoluble solids e.g. a mixture of a salt which is soluble and sand which is insoluble can be separated by dissolving the salt in water and obtaining the sand

Q

What is crystaloisation

A

Crystaloisation is used to obtain a soluble solid from a solutions.e. salt crystals can be obtained from salty water by heating the water untill the water evaporates and crystals are left

Q

What is chromatography used to do

A

Seperate different soluble, coloured components of a mixture,e.g.the different colours added to a fizzy drink can be separated by chrimatography
