Security Methods Flashcards
The two catagories security methods fit into are:
Physical
Digital
The different types of security methods and the catagoery they fit in.
Encryption - Digital Anti-Virus software - Digital Shredding - Physical Usernames and passwords/permissions - Digital Locks - Physical Privacy screens - Physical Biometrics - Physical RFID(radio frequency identification) - Physical Tokens - Physical Firewalls - Digital Anti-spyware - Digital
What the encryption method does and which threat(s) it prevents.
Encryption makes any file or folder unreadable meaning it is no use to anyone unless they can decrypt it.
The threat it prevents is data theft and interception.
What the anti-virus method does and which threat(s) it prevents.
Anti-virus software acts as a safeguard to stop viruses from harming the computer.
The threat it prevents is virsues.
What the shredding method does and which threat(s) it prevents.
Used to get rid of physical documentation of private and sensitive information.
The threat it prevents is data theft.
What the usernames and passwords/permissions method does and which threat(s) it prevents.
Having Usernames and passwords stops anyone from logging on to a device or a specific account without a password. Permissions stop people from doing something they shouldn’t being doing.
What the firewalls method does and which threat(s) it prevents.
Firewalls act as barriers to keep ‘destructive elements’ out of networks and computers.
The threats firewalls prevent are viruses.
What the tokens method does and which threat(s) it prevents.
Tokens stop people from accessing physical locations they shouldn’t have access to.
The prevent data theft and eavesdropping.
What the anti-spyware method does and which threat(s) it prevents.
Anti-spyware detects and removes unwanted spyware programs.
It prevents trojans, viruses, evasdropping, interception and data theft.
