A physical docking point where an external device can be connected to a computer.

A
A USB(universal serial bus) is a port were all kinds of external devices can be connected to a computer. Some of these external devices would be keyboard, mouse, printer and scanner. Most computers provide two USB ports at minimum. Data travels at 12 megabits per second.

Information on Firerwire
A
Firewire ports are able to transfer large amounts of data very quickly and connects video equipment to a computer. Data travels at 400 to 800 megabits a second but also, there are three variants of firewire ports. These are 4-Pin FireWire 400 connector, 6-Pin FireWire 400 connector and 9-Pin FireWire 800 connector.
