- Knowledge factor: relies on knoweldge a user can recall
- Possesion factor: relies on a user presenting a physical item to authenticate themselves
- Inherence factor: relies on the user providing a unique physical or behavioural characteristic to validate they are who they say they are
- Action Factor: relies on a user to provide a uniqe action to prove who they are e.g handwriting samples
- Location factor: relies on the user being in a certain location before access is granted
