Scene 8 Flashcards
PHOEBE: Maria! Where’d you get that?
It’s a loan from a gentleman.
PHOEBE: What gentlemen?
They don’t get wet in the rain. They don’t even know what mud is.
SARAH: She’s gone mad.
Come under!
PHOEBE: Where’ve you been?
I met some rich folks and decided to marry one of them.
SARAH: We’re not good enough now, girls.
You can all come round for tea once a week.
PHOEBE: Who is he?
He’s called Peter Matthews. He’s half in love with me already, I just need to work on the other half.
THERESA: Oh, that’s good, that’s very good.
The Cherry Fair?
SARAH: And we’ll all come round for tea
This umbrella was the first thing I was hit with. That wasn’t what killed me, though. Umbrellas are pointy, but not so lethal as a spade.
