A few days later, I meet him in the barn and I tell him I want to break it off. He starts to cry. He is saying ‘no, no, no’ and before I can stop him, he is down on one knee asking me to be his wife. When I hesitate, he says that if I refuse he’ll drown himself in the Polstead Pond, just like his poor brother.
So I say yes, because everybody loves that pond.
