Q

What factors impact drug absorption rate in injections

A

Physical exercise/activity: increase BF — increase rate of A

Application of hot or cold compresses: cold decrease BF + rate of A; hot increases BF + rate of A

Rubbing area: increase BF and irritates tissue (DON’T DO)

Q

At what rate should SC injections be depressed

A

1mL/10 secs

17
Q

When can you release the skin fold during the SC injections

A

Can remove after inserted needle or after injected

18
Q

T or F: you can’t aspirate IM or SC injections as this will cause damage + pain

A

T - don’t aspirate

aspiration: when you pull back on the plunger when the needle is inserted to check for blood before pushing the fluid

19
Q

What are some AEs of SC injections

A

mild burning during injection

hardened painful lumps —- abscess

lipoatrophy or lipohypertrophy: tissue hardening
- rotate site to prevent
